The big question
Curious Years began with a simple desire: to slow down and spend more meaningful time together.
What started as a collection of activities for my son quickly became something more. A bug hunt turned into a hundred questions. A simple experiment became an afternoon of discovery. And somewhere along the way, I realized the activities weren't really the point.
The connection was.
How it Started
Before there was a book, a Discovery Box, or even a name, there was simply a mom trying to create more intentional time with her kids.
Our founder, Megan, started planning little activities and adventures for her son. Things they could build, discover, experiment with, and talk about together.
She watched his face light up when something worked. She listened as one question turned into five more. And she realized how much she loved seeing the world through his eyes.
Megan didn't want her son to stop asking “why?” She wanted to give him even more reasons to ask it.
That idea eventually became Curious Years.

Kids are naturally curious. They ask questions, notice the smallest things, make messes, build things, take things apart, and somehow turn an ordinary afternoon into an adventure.
But childhood moves quickly.
Curious Years was created to help us slow it down, even just a little.
To give families simple ways to explore together, encourage the questions, follow where curiosity leads, and make memories in the middle of everyday life.
Because childhood isn't something to rush through.
It's something to wonder through.
Get outside. Look closer. Ask questions. Follow the trail.
Build it. Draw it. Imagine it. Make it your own.
Experiment. Investigate. Try something new. Find out what happens.
Ask why. Ask what if. And never be afraid to ask one more question.
We're not here to fill every minute of childhood. We're here to make a few of those minutes mean more.
Curious Years creates thoughtfully designed books, activities, experiences, and little invitations to wonder that make it easier for families to connect through curiosity.
No perfect Pinterest projects. No pressure to finish every activity. No need to have all the answers.
Just start with a question and see where it takes you.
Someday, the toys will be packed away. The little voices asking endless questions will get bigger. And the ordinary afternoons we're living right now will become the moments we wish we could visit again.

When our founder, Megan Shinney, shared the idea for Curious Years with Alex Nemes, a mom of four who understood firsthand both the magic and the beautiful chaos of raising curious little humans, the connection was immediate. Together, they set out to build something that gives families a little more inspiration, a little less pressure, and more opportunities to explore, wonder, and connect with the kids they love.
